April 2025 Astrology Forecast: April Showers

After a raucous month of Cosmic March Madness that featured two eclipses, Mercury and Venus stationing retrograde, Mars out-of-bounds, and Neptune slipping into Aries, the skies calm down a little in April.

Not that we’ll be seeing all that much calm down here. While there may not be too many new ingredients in the celestial soup, we’ll be sorting out the changes of the past few months for some time. Among other things, we’ll be seeing the first effects of Neptune in Aries this month.

Still, 2025 was off to a slow start, with Mars, Venus, and Mercury all taking turns retrograding, and we should be feeling that forward motion is a little easier as we move through April. If the first three months of the year provided us with high motivation but low potential (“hurry up and wait”), we can expect that it will be somewhat easier to get things done – or perhaps just less intensity as we go from day-to-day.

Not that the excitement is all over. Mars remains “out of bounds” (beyond the maximum of the Sun’s orbit) for the first week of April, so that the erratic and impulsive actions we’ve seen thus far this year will continue. It’s not until Mars crosses into Leo on the 18th that the protective and reactive vibe settles down.

Even then, Mars’ opposition to Pluto on the 26th is a key time. These two planets opposed each other back on November 3rd of 2024, and then again on January 3rd. Those of us watching U.S. politics will see some obvious resonance between these three dates. All the more so because Mercury will trigger the March 29th solar eclipse degree on the same day.

The Sun squares Mars on the 20th and Pluto on the 23rd, days that will serve as a build-up to the 26th. At the collective level, the third and fourth weeks of the month will hold some very high energy and the potential for major changes. In our personal lives, too, we may feel power struggles with some folks.

Mercury turns direct on the 7th, ending his retrograde period. It’s a good idea to wait at least a few days before signing contracts, buying electronics, and so on, and remember that Mercurial mishaps multiply in the days surrounding the station.

Venus ends her 40 day retrograde on the 12th. This retrograde closely paralleled both the Christian Lenten season and Ramadan, so that we’ve been given multiple messages to step back from pleasures and indulgences in the past six weeks. Venus turns direct on the Libra Full Moon – ostensibly a signal that it’s time to go have some fun, but waiting another week or so isn’t a bad idea.

Venus stations very near Saturn, an aspect that is exact on the 7th and again on the 24th. Issues of romance, finance, and assessment that began as far back as January 18th are likely to come to a conclusion as April ends – with the period from the 7th through the 13th being pivotal.

Mercury meets with Neptune on the 17th. These meetings are always an opportunity for confusion – think Mercury retrograde raised to a power. And that’s exactly the situation, as Mercury and Neptune have met three times because of his retrograde. Some issue, concern, or confusion that began around March 2nd and had a further installment around March 29th may come to a conclusion now – or may simply settle into a vague state of uncertainty.

The Sun enters Taurus on the 19th. It’s peak springtime in the Northern Hemisphere, deep autumn down below the equator.

As April draws to a close, the Taurus New Moon is on the 27th. The time after this new moon is great for setting intentions around matters having to do with money and possessions – and it certainly represents a good opportunity for spring cleaning.
