We have an action-packed June… or at least one very action-packed day in June. The excitement centers around the 9th (give a day or two in each direction), when major shifts occur in the sky.
The big news this month is that Jupiter is leaving Gemini for Cancer, spending the next year in his favorite sign (well, he has a lot of favorite signs). Those of us who have Sagittarius rising or a Sadgy Sun should really feel the positive vibe, although we all have Sagittarius somewhere in our charts.
As we start the month, love and creativity are highlighted. Venus meets with Chiron and Eris (goddess of discord) in the first few days of June, then goes on to make an easy sextile to Jupiter on the 5th, before going into her home sign of Taurus on the 6th. If something needs to be said to clear the air in a relationship, this would be a good time. The 5th has some potential for overindulgence, although with neither Venus nor Jupiter happy in the signs they are in, it could be that grand plans are made but fall short of their expected results.
With Venus then moving into Taurus for the rest of the month, we favor sensual enjoyment in social interactions – a nice dinner, beautiful sunset… that sort of thing.
Starting around the 5th, communication is key. Mercury, Pallas Athene (the truth-teller asteroid) and Mars all connect in more or less harmonious aspects. This suggests an opportunity to say what needs to be said, but also to ‘walk your talk’, Mars being a planet of action.
We could say a little too much around the 8th, when Mercury meets with Jupiter at the very last degree and minutes of Gemini, while Pallas Athene stations to retrograde in Aquarius. Again, expect that very frank and candid conversations will take place – if needed.
On the 9th, the activity reaches a peak that will last all the way out to the full moon on the 11th. Jupiter enters Cancer, and Pallas Athene stations to retrograde. Mercury squares Saturn, then Neptune. Venus squares Pluto. It’s a toss up, and we can’t imagine how it will all play out – and of course it will play out in myriad ways, with each of us having our own experience of these energies. Expect an emotional tone to vibrate through these days, with an all-or-none decision as a possible demand on you. Be aware that the Mercury-Neptune aspect suggests that we may wind up acting on misinformation.
The Sagittarius Full Moon on the 11th is kind of a “Welcome” sign for Jupiter in Cancer, given that Sagittarius is his home sign. It’s midweek, but it should be an upbeat and fun energy. The only caveat is that with all the activity in the days before, we might be feeling more serious than we otherwise might. At the collective level, there’s great potential for polarization when Sagittarius is prominent in the sky.
On the 15th, we have two prominent aspects. Mars squares Uranus, an aspect that can get folks to act independently, and sometimes erratically. More significantly, Jupiter squares Saturn, completing a cycle of aspects that hark back to late 2020, when the two planets met in early Aquarius. This is an aspect that is really only relevant at the collective level (unless you happen to have placements right at the early degrees of cardinal signs). Think of it as a period of evaluation of the decisions we made around that time.
Jupiter goes on to square Neptune on the 18th. Historically, this is an aspect that tends to favor progressive social causes. It relates back to the meeting of these two planets in April of 2022, as a reference point.
On June 20th at 10:41p Eastern Daylight Time (7:41 Pacific Daylight Time, June 21 at 3:41a BST, June 21 at 2:41 GMT), the Sun enters Cancer, marking the Summer Solstice (or the Winter, if you’re below the equator). The Sun has reached his northern limit, rising and setting as far north as he ever does, and marking the greatest daylight hours of the year. Alas, from the peak there’s only one way to go, and the days will begin to get shorter, although incrementally at first.
Sol won’t have time to reflect on all this, as he has meetings scheduled for the first few days in Cancer. He squares Saturn (22nd) and Neptune (23rd) before meeting with Jupiter on the 24th. The Saturn and Neptune aspects might be a little deflating in some ways, although Neptune and Jupiter can puff up ego a bit. Strained feelings are likely to resolve relatively quickly, so don’t take things too seriously.
All this action takes place just before the Cancer New Moon on the 25th, so we may be more inclined to wind things down than begin new projects.
Finally, on the 29th, we have yet another opportunity to tell it like it is – or at least as we see it – as Venus squares Pallas Athene while Mercury opposes Pluto. On both the personal and collective levels, the gloves come off and communication gets feisty.
This June is a time of transitions and changes – and many of them will be the result of our decisions and particularly our interactions with others. Be open and honest, but also remember the importance of kindness.
