December 2025 Astrology Forecast

Neptune above…

Forecast by Armand Diaz

The final month of 2025 is strongly colored by the planet Neptune, a celestial body that lends imagination, fantasy, and illusions to whatever it touches. And this December, Neptune touches pretty much everything.

Neptune is a trip to the amusement park, although it’s uncertain whether you’ll wind up in the Fun House, the Tunnel of Love, or the Haunted House… or maybe you’ll ride on a roller coaster. The highlight of the month is his station to go direct (ending his retrograde) on the 10th. But the Sun connects with the god of the seas on the 20th, Venus rubs shoulders with him on the 24th, and Mercury slips into an awkward square on New Year’s Eve.

The month starts off with the Gemini Full Moon on the 4th, which should make for a fun first weekend of the month. Mix with friends, stroll into town, and maybe get an early start to holiday parties. The upbeat energy is matched by Mercury making harmonious connections to Jupiter and Saturn in the days that follow the full moon.

On the 8th, Mars squares Saturn, an aspect that cautions against multitasking and demands focus. With the Cosmic Warrior in Sagittarius and Saturn in Pisces, however, we might find ourselves juggling more than one thing at a time.

Mars and Saturn tend to demand seriousness, but with Neptune stationing just a couple of days later, it may be hard to know what’s really real. From the 9th through the 11th, avoid significant decisions, and wait on major purchases. Don’t plan on… anything, really, but instead let serendipity rule. Mercury is also opposite Uranus, so there could be some inspired ideas in the air – take note, but wait for a while to see what’s really practical. Also watch out for Too Much Information spilling out.

Just before Mars climbs into Capricorn on the 15th, he squares Neptune on the 14th. Mars/Neptune connections can get us to act precipitously, to go beyond the limits we would normally accept. But Mars/Neptune energy can also sputter and dissipate quickly. Picture a racing car zipping around the track at top speed, then running out of gas.

The Sun squares Saturn on the 16th, an aspect that tends to deflate egos a bit. It’s a very realistic energy, and together with Mars in Capricorn it suggests a realistic couple of days at midmonth.

The Sagittarius New Moon is on the 19th, and is a great time to set intentions around travel, higher learning, and other Big Picture matters. As always, give the Moon twelve to twenty-four hours to start waxing before setting your intentions.

Well, maybe a little sooner this time around. The Sun squares Neptune on the 20th. This aspect tends to make people in our lives look much better or worse than they otherwise would. Again, it’s not a very realistic aspect, so don’t take your assessments (or anyone else’s assessments) too seriously.

At 10:02 a.m. Eastern Time (15:02 GMT) on the 21st, the Sun enters Capricorn, marking the Winter Solstice. Now at the low point of the solar year, Sol has nowhere to go but up, and for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere the days begin to lengthen as we begin the long climb up to the Summer Solstice in June.

Venus is quite busy during the last week of the month, as she floats through the end of Sagittarius before stepping into Capricorn on the 24th. The goddess of love will connect with both Saturn and Neptune in the days before, giving us a dose of reality – but in soft focus – that should make for a pleasant holiday season.

As the year ends, Mercury squares Neptune in the earliest hours of 2026. We’ll end 2025 with a bit of uncertainty, perhaps wondering how to even assess the past year. Yet with the Cosmic Messenger at the end of Sagittarius, we are likely to find that folks are ready to yell their beliefs and opinions to anyone who will listen.

The image is by the author. Curiously, at least two London train stations (Waterloo and St. Pancras) have Neptune atop the entryway. Seems a questionable choice.
