January was intense, and don’t expect things to let up in February. We have a powerful full moon, a station of Uranus, and a solar eclipse, along with many hot aspects. And the big news is the meeting of Saturn and Neptune at 0 degrees Aries.
Oh, and Mercury retrogrades at the end of the month.
We start with the Leo Full Moon on the 1st. The Leo Full Moon is always considered the Party Moon of the year, with tons of energy for creativity, fun, and romance. It’s a Sunday, but the influence will be felt both before and afterwards.
That includes the 3rd, when Uranus stations direct, ending his retrograde that began in early September. Uranus stations are times when we all look for independence and freedom. It’s a great time to do your own thing and assert yourself, but be aware that everyone else is doing so, too. Cooperation can be hard to come by when the planet of revolution and change is powerful.
Mercury squares stationed Uranus on the 5th. Folks will be saying what’s on their minds, and speaking is more likely than listening. Be careful driving, too, as this aspect isn’t great for consideration on the roads. With Mercury exalted in Uranus’ home sign of Aquarius, we’re going to hear quite a bit about the power of, and to, the people.
On the 8th, it’s Venus’ turn to square Uranus, and it’s time to try something (or someone) new in relationships. Mix it up in terms of your personal partnerships, breaking with routines and opting for some fresh air. The two planets are in mutual reception, so the changes should be workable without much stress. It’s also a good time to explore new creative paths, entertainment, and social options.
Make the most of the potential for fun – even amidst some startling energies – in the first week of the month. On the 10th, Venus moves into Pisces, where she’s more about compassion and empathy than personal connections – more agapĂ© and less eros. It’s the sign of her exaltation, and a great placement for the goddess of love, but the vibe for socializing is more subdued.
Saturn enters Aries on the 13th. The planet of limitations and responsibilities was in the sign for a few months last year, but now he’s here for a few years. Watch the news for signs about conflict and competition: planets announce their agenda when they enter a sign.
Mid-month is especially charged. The Sun squares Uranus on the 16th, just a day before the solar eclipse (at 28 degrees Aquarius) on the 17th. Once again, the revolutionary energy is at the forefront. The root of revolution is revolve, or to spin – and we’re likely to feel like we’re spinning all month long.
After the eclipse, the Sun dives into oceanic Pisces on the 18th. It’s the last month of winter, and we can feel the frozen energy begin to thaw.
Saturn meets Neptune on the 20th. This is probably the most significant aspect of the year. Saturn is about the structures of our society, while Neptune shows our collective fascination and obsessions. Their meeting sets the tone for the next 36 years in terms of what we believe about how the world works. The last time they met was in 1989, and the time before that was in 1953 – I’ll let you draw your own conclusions about how the world changed, but will point out that these meetings bookended the Cold War. Meeting this time at the very beginning of Aries suggests some very hot consequences.
Mercury stations retrograde on the 26th, beginning three weeks of the usual – or is it unusual? – snafus in communication, technology, and transportation.
The final aspect of the month again involves Uranus, as Mars squares him on the 27th. Mercury/Uranus brings about impulsive speech, but Mars/Uranus suggests impulsive action.
We may very well feel like we’re spinning all month long. Try to find balance, or at least hold on.
