Twists and Turns… September 2025 Astrology Forecast

If we typically think of September as a time to get back to work and school after summer vacations, we may find that this September offers us little in the way of routine stability. We have two eclipses along with some very hot aspects.

The month starts with Saturn sliding back into Pisces on the 1st, after several months trying out the fiery energy of Aries. During his stay here (through late January), we’ll be reassessing Piscean issues like migration, the opioid/fentanyl crisis, the health of the oceans, and psychedelic therapy. While Neptune has served up these issues since he entered his home sign in 2011, Saturn is likely to demand laws and regulations. In our personal lives, we’ll be revisiting the areas of life signified in our natal charts.

We have a dynamic Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on the 7th, preceded by Uranus’ station to retrograde on the 6th. Expect the first week of the month to end with surprises, and perhaps a few explosions (hopefully on a verbal level). This is a time when it will be a challenge to contain your energies, so find a suitable outlet. Be aware, too, that it can be difficult to sleep when Uranus is prominent, and all the more so at the full moon. Folks will be feeling the need for freedom, which is great, but keep in mind that with each of us following our own stars, cooperation could be hard to find.

Venus is active at mid-month, sextiling Mars and squaring Juno on the 15th and 16th. This is a great energy for relationships that are in a good place, or that want to move in that direction. However, Venus in Leo is looking for fun, while Juno in Scorpio is demanding security and commitment: find a balance could be a challenge for some of us.

As Venus goes on to square Uranus on the 20th, just after she enters Virgo, we could find that we’re looking for novelty and change in our partnerships. Those relationships that are out of balance may need to be reset around this time, although the heavy energy of the Sun opposite Saturn on the 21st could provide a challenge.

That Sun/Saturn opposition strongly colors the Virgo New Moon, which is just a few hours later. This is the second Virgo New Moon this year, and like the first, we may find that we don’t feel ourselves settling down to business as usual. There’s certainly a heaviness about the time between the 19th and 22nd that could get us to see the glass as half empty – keep in mind that while eclipses show us what needs our attention, they also blow things out of proportion.

Mars enters his home sign of Scorpio on the 22nd. In this sign, the Cosmic Warrior plays defense, protecting the castle rather than going off to conquer. There’s a slightly reactive side to Mars in Scorpio, so watch out for sarcasm.

The Sun enters Libra at 8:53a on the 22nd, marking the autumnal equinox (in the Northern Hemisphere). The days and nights are of equal length, but the night will have the upper hand for the next six months. We feel the solar energy retreating, and intuitively sense that it is more a time of endings than beginnings. Nonetheless, it isn’t a quiet time, with the Sun going on to aspect Neptune, Uranus, and Pluto over the next two days.

The last major aspect of the month is Mars’ square to Pluto on the 24th. On the collective level, we’re likely to see skirmishes between those holding to a more traditional viewpoint and those who are more progressive. Mars and Pluto co-rule Scorpio, so they may be able to find some common ground – although that doesn’t mean that the rest of us will. On a more personal level, watch out for temper flares, from yourself and others.
