This October features some very Plutonian energy – appropriate enough for Scorpio season! While changes and transformation may be in store and deep undercurrents continue to flow through our individual and collective lives, we’re likely to feel the intensity… well, less intense, than in September. There’s perhaps more a sense of things simmering below the surface than erupting for us to face directly.
The month starts out on a high note, with the Aries Full Moon on the 6th. This is a good time for getting out, connecting with others, and maybe engaging in a little friendly competition (pickleball or chess – you pick).
The high-flying energy of the full moon may deliver more than you think, as Mercury squares Pluto on the 7th. The 6th and 7th will be a time when communication is both direct and uncompromising, with Mercury in Pluto’s home sign of Scorpio.
Pluto is the star of the show at mid-month, when he stations to retrograde on the 13th. Expect the 12th through the 14th to have an intense feel, with power struggles possible at every level. A good use of this energy is to make changes that you have decided on and hoped for but have not yet acted upon. With the Moon waning, it could be a time when we’re more inclined to cut ties than to initiate new things.
The Libra New Moon on the 21st is quickly followed by the Sun wading into the dark waters of Scorpio on the 22nd, once again resonating with the Plutonian vibe of October. No sooner does Sol enter the sign than he squares Pluto. At the collective level, this is a time to assess who really has the power – those with the title, or those who hold public opinion? At the personal level, we may once again see some power struggles.
Neptune backs out of Aries and into his home sign of Pisces on the 22nd, where he’ll spend the next couple of months wrapping up business on themes that began as far back as 2011. Immigration, homelessness, the opioid crisis and fentanyl are like topics that will be prominent in the coming months. Look also for news on psychedelic therapy and cannabis legalization.
Venus is very active at the beginning of the month. She makes aspects to her BFF Jupiter and Saturn on the 8th and 11th, creating opportunities for change in relationship status.
After the goddess of love enters her home sign of Libra on the 13th, she’s busy aspecting Neptune, Pluto, and Uranus. While there could be changes of social plans at mid-month, it looks like Plan B might be better than the original Plan A, so don’t be too quick to judge upsets in your social expectations.
Mercury takes up the slack at the end of the month, opening up communication with (mostly) harmonious aspects. It makes the end of October good for taking care of business and communicating your wants and needs.
An opposition to Uranus and sextile to Pluto on the 29th and 30th suggest that conversations will be frank and unedited, but the honesty is likely to be refreshing after the Plutonian first half of the month. Mercury will have just entered Sagittarius, where he is famous for confusing beliefs with facts, but these aspects may help to call him to account.
