The Scorpio vibe resonates all through the month of October of 2026. We’ll be feeling the intensity from the beginning of the month, long before the Sun enters the sign on the 23rd.
That’s in part due to Venus and Mercury getting a head start in Scorpio, with both of them retrograding in the sign.
Mercury dives into the deep, still waters of Scorpio on September 30th, and then stops to retrograde on the 24th. That means he’ll be in his ‘shadow’ period virtually all month. The usual Mercury retrograde caveats apply, with the additional heads-up that his retrogrades in Water signs tend to bring about more pernicious problems, often involving not only technology and transportation, but also their power sources (batteries and such).
Venus is also retrograde in Scorpio for much of October. Her retrograde begins on the 3rd, and she’ll back up into her home sign of Libra on the 25th, where she will remain until early December. Venus retrograde isn’t a great time to start a new relationship, but even more important is that it’s not a good time to buy luxury items or have anything appraised or assessed. Think of it as a time to step back from pleasures and indulgences – a nice idea for Venus retrograde is to give something up. In fact, I think Venus retrograde is the model for the Christian season of Lent, which, like Venus retrograde, has 40 days.
Both Mercury and Venus will end their retrogrades on November 13th, but more on that next month.
Pluto stations to go direct on October 15th, casting mid-month in a Scorpionic glow. The days around Pluto stations tend to be tense, although the energy is more implosive than explosive. Still, be aware that some folks might be on a short fuse around this time.
More volatile energy may prevail with Mercury, Venus, and Mars aspecting Pluto throughout the month. Mercury and Mars form a t-square to Pluto on the 2nd and 3rd, a time when we are likely to see both fiery words and intense actions. Mercury has just entered Scorpio, where words can be cutting and sarcastic, while Mars is in Leo, where he favors dramatic action.
The Sun’s opposition to Saturn on the 4th may help to temper excesses, especially as the two are in mutual reception – unhappy in the signs they’re in, but in each others’ exaltation sign.
The Libra New Moon is on the 10th, although in the midst of the month’s intensity we may feel neither calm (new moon) or gracious (Libra).
Retrograde Venus squares Pluto on the 20th, and the days around their connection could be tense for relationships, as well as financial and business matters. The two planets first tangled on September 15th, and issues that came up around that time may flare up again. Resolution may have to wait until December 9th, when they create the aspect for the third and last time in this go-round. More positively, with Venus in Pluto’s home sign, this could be an opportunity for deepening a personal romantic connection.
The Taurus Full Moon in on the 26th, just a day after Mercury stations to retrograde. We may see some dramatic manifestations of the Cosmic Messenger in reverse gear. Adding to the intensity (I’m using that word a lot in this forecast, I know), this full moon is square to Pluto. Power struggles are a possibility, and we’re likely to see some hidden agendas coming to light around this time, especially in the collective.
