A Tale of Two Parades… Jupiter Square Saturn, June 2025

A Tale of Two Parades…

This weekend, as Jupiter squares Saturn, we have powerful symbolic displays of the contrasting energies in the form of parades.

Jupiter and Saturn met in late 2020 at 0 degrees of Aquarius. The two planets meet every 20 years, setting the the social and political agenda for the coming decades.

In the collective-oriented sign of the Water Bearer, they sounded the tone for the ideals of freedom and the power of the people. It was what we might call “Peak D.E.I.” and the height of the BLM movement.

This weekend, we see a major test of our collective ideals as Jupiter and Saturn tangle with each other. Remember, the planets don’t play sides, and there are many ideals floating around the collective. It’s up to us to choose.

Jupiter in Cancer is beneficent and encourages compassion, yet the sign of the crab is also rather traditional. Saturn in Aries represents “authoritarian authority” (which is not as redundant as it first sounds). However, Saturn in Aries also damps down authoritarian power.

We have two parades contrasting the energies. In the U.S., there’s a major display of military might to honor the 250th anniversary of the army, coincidentally on Donald Trump’s 79th birthday. It’s reminiscent of the old-school Soviet-era military parades (which still take place).

On the other hand, it’s also Pride Weekend (or a weekend in Pride Month), and there are many local parades celebrating diversity and freedom. And of course, there are also going to be numerous protests around the country, the “No Kings!” marches aimed at Trump’s consolidation of power.

History doesn’t hinge on a parade, but the outcome of this weekend’s activities will tell us much about the next few years.
